As many of you may know, I have been volunteering with the AARP Tax-Aide program for about six years. Once again, my District 21 (South Florida) colleagues and I are going to be at Miami-Dade public libraries ready to prepare and efile (if the taxpayer wants) tax returns. Of course, not every person's situation falls within the scope of our training, but most do.
Here's the schedule:

6000 Sunet Drive, South Miami, 305-667-6121
February 6 - April 17 (except February 20)
Tuesdays, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Homestead Community Cntr
601 N Krome Ave, Homestead, 305-245-4934
February 7 - April 18
Wednesdays, 2:00 pm - 6:30 pm, South Dade Regional Lib.
10750 SW 211 Street, Cutler Bay, 305 -233-8140
February 1 - April 12
Thursdays, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, West Kendall Regional Lib.
10201 Hammocks Bulvd., 305-385-7135
February 2 - April 13
Fridays, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Coral Reef Branch Library
9211 Coral Reef Drive, 305-233-8324

Of course, I'll be at South Miami Library. I look forward to seeing many people I know come to take advantage of a service I am very proud to assist.
VOTE BY MAIL
The governor of Florida has cancelled services to Florida voters who registered to receive ballots by mail. That means that anyone who expects to receive ballots for up-coming elections will not. Unless, of course, she or he re-registers.
Quoting from the website: "Due to recent changes in Florida law, all requests for vote-by-mail ballots expired at the end of 2022. Therefore, any request on file has expired. If you want to continue voting by mail, please submit your request today." The underlined words are a live link to the internet page where registation begins.
TROPICAL AUDUBON SOCIETY (TAS)
What a lovely time I spent in the Doc Thomas House backyard this past Saturday evening! Starting at 7:00 pm the grounds were open to picnickers. A food truck with good Mexican fare did great business with those who had not brought their own food. The Girl Scouts were selling cookies, so I was able to get my favorite variety there to eat right after my meal.
At 7:30 - or thereabouts - the band started to play. This Saturday the band was Take Sixx. Their newest member is a lovely singer who has a good voice and style.
TAS has planned concerts for the next three months: on the last Saturdays of February, March and April [2/25, 3/25, 4/29]. They call these concerts "Rock the Doc." The concerts are being held in order to raise money to rethatch the Chickee hut. [That structure is one of the nicest places to attend a TAS dinner or hold a party.]
For more information about up-coming bands, click here. About a week before each concert, tickets go on sale online.
I would write about the up-coming Commission meeting (Feb. 6), but - if I wait for the agenda - it will be very late to get out this message about tax preparation help.
