WORRY, FIRST

This is the first paragraph of an article I just saw.

REMINDERS about TRANSPORTATION

Although the area that FreeBee is permitted to travel for South Miami residents has not changed, new cars have been added. Yes, cars! For information about the current schedule and how FreeBee operates you can go to South Miami website and search under On-Demand Shuttle Service. In addition to a video, there is this information:

Besides using a phone app, FreeBee can be reached by calling:

1-855-918-3733. The service is for going to and from South Miami City Center, hospitals, doctor's offices, and the MetroRail. It is not for going to and from a friend's house.

Another service that is not well-known is the County's MetroConnect.

Download (click on >) the MetroConnect app to start riding or call

786-321-5842 to sign up and book a FREE ride.

MetroConnect offers greater flexibility than FreeBee, but I do not know which is the more efficient - i.e. how long the wait time is on average.

REQUEST

About three weeks ago,

I wrote about a pigeon who

needed a better home than

what I had to offer. Skye

is now in residence where

there are other creatures near

her - including a dove and a chicken, I'm told - and space

enough to fly.

Note the floppy-eared rabbit.

Now I would like a home for the cage that I had her in. Although it is old and has spent time outdoors, it is pretty.

If you are interested (it might make an eye-catching container for plants), please let me know.

THANKS

Saturday, January 20, was a lovely day. What made it extra-special for me was the comraderie and accomplishment I shared with others who turned out to help paint the Unity Wall.

Thanks to all: to the organizers, to the lead artist, to all the people who turned out to paint, to the walkers-by who stopped to chat and encourage, to the Mayor for his cash contribution, and . . . to all and for all that I should know to mention.

I think the part of the wall I most admire (so far) is the peacock on the corner. It took one of our long-term Commissioners a year to paint. Although the peacock is a signed work of art, I will not name the artist. I hope people will be enticed to go look at the wall closely.

There is still much to paint. I expect there to be future announcements about painting opportunities.

Keep safe, stay healthy.
