(1) Tomorrow morning (4/16) South Miami will be thanking the healthcare workers at South Miami Hospital. At 6:30 am we will be handing out donuts near the employee parking garage as the workers change shifts. To acknowledge how grateful we are to their work during this crisis, police cars will be there with flashing lights. If you are up and about, come and cheer them.
(2) On Saturday (4/18), from 10 am - 2 pm, Farm Share will be distributing food at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center. Packages of food will be placed in the trunks of cars. One package per adult in the car - limited to three per car.
(3) Thursday, April 23, starting at 5:00 pm, Congresswoman Donna Shalala will be holding a virtual Town Hall Meeting with South Miami and Pinecrest. Details about how to join the meeting will be coming out soon.
(4) Please, do not postpone, enter your census data now! South Miami is only 13 out of 34 cities when looking at the response rate in Miami-Dade Country. We should be number ranked 1, because we are the best. https://respond.census.gov/qspp/login
I understand that usually Miami-Dade County has about a 74% rating on the whole. The higher our census, the better position we are in to get larger shares of funding when available.
